The Abandoned Subway Stop

Sounds spooky right? I KNOW! But it totally isn't. It's actually gorgeous! When a subway train gets to the end of any given line they usually duck into the darkness of an underground tunnel and reemerge on the other side of the platform. Until recently, when you arrived at the Brooklyn Bridge stop of the 6 train you were made to get off while the train looped around to go the other way. Now you can actually stay on and ride through one of New York City's more picturesque underground stations.

The City Hall station was closed long ago due to it's under use and low ridership. Though still not open to the public, the glitch in the matrix is staying on at the end of that line, riding through this gorgeous station and emerging on the other side.

No report yet on whether it's some sort of space/time/geek vortex or just a plain ol' dumb, gorgeous, abandoned, adjective, subway stop. More news at 11. And by 11 I mean click here for the full story and more photos.
