Interview with SoSuperSam | extra links!

We're thrilled to announce our video interview with DJ SoSuperSam has launched! After MONTHS of partying to her mixes, as some of you will remember from our parties in NYC, we got to sit down and talk to her about how it all started, her dream party scenario and her thoughts on NYC vs LA.

I'm a huge fan and through my non-stop talking about her mixes to our close friends, some of you are as well! Go check her out at her official site: SoSuperSam.com. Also, you can follow her on twitter and like her on facebook so go show her some love! Earlier this month I had the amazing chance to watch her spin at the CAMP tour, witness Childish Gambino KILL IT on stage and hang out with both of them for a bit backstage after the show. Much love and much thanks! We're THRILLED!

The Rise of Boey's Cups | extra links!

It was late last year when I received the first message from Boey. I had no idea who it was until I read then line "Here's my stuff, if you're ever interested in a guy who draws on coffee cups." followed by a link to his website, iamboey.com. My mouth dropped to the floor. I instantly knew who he was from that sentence and all the images I had been seeing around the internet of his work came flooding into mind.

I pounced. I had to get this interview. To put it simply, I was stoked and flattered that after watching the Hyperbole and a Half interview we did, he thought to write me and set the wheels in motion. He's been featured all over the internet with notable stops on Maxim, the official Sharpie blog, and now us! Fast forward a couple of months and here we are. The interview launched last week and the dialog between Boey and the mag has been nothing but positive.

Please visit iamboey.com to follow his day to day blog, view his cups on flickr, and purchase the artworks on etsy.

Please note both AVideoMagazine and Boey himself would like to clarify that the work in progress featured in our video interview was created well before the devastation in Japan and has no connection to the events. The work is neither about nor commentary on the tsunami. Our hearts go out to the people of Japan.

Molls, she writes all her own lyrics.

Molls, Molls, Molls. We can sit here and say we love you because we're into everything you do ...and that you're funny and witty and we never miss a post of your blog ...and that your twitter is consistently outrageous ...and that your dog is a star and that you're the queen of Tumblr but... it's really all because your nail game is bananas. ...like the kind of bananas that gets you punched in the arm by your girlfriend because you've made her look at pictures of some internet chick's nails so that, you know, she could finally get a clue. Lol. (True shit and no, we're no longer together, duh.) Readers, check her blog out and check out our video interview with Molls below!

We're happy ...like very! [please enjoy both videos!]

We're happy to say that last week was a great week for AVideoMagazine in the numbers game. We just recently broke 2500 subscribers and 2 of our recent videos are KILLING IT!

The gorgeous Cynthia and her head shaving video just passed 5000 views.

and the lovely and HILARIOUS Allie Brosh of "Hyperbole and a Half" made a huge jump in views after Reddit and Digg got wind of the video. She just broke 11,000 views adding about half of those in just a few short days.

Half my job is picking the winning ponies; I'm just glad it's the people I'm most fond of getting the attention through promotion on their end and retweets/promotion from you lovely readers. I've been blessed to say that I've had some wonderful interactions with some of the internet's newest and brightest movers and shakers. You're all so talented and geeky and everything I've ever wanted. Hahaha. Thank you all so much.

T-Minus 1 Week!!!

I'm flipping out. I totally am. In a good way of course. I have all content ready all the way through Mayish, sorta. And by the end of April I'll be about 3 months ahead of myself. Yay! Ok that's all boring stuff though. Umm... did you hear I might be on L.A. Ink?? They just emailed me yesterday saying they had received it. Fingers crossed.
Hmm, This is not much of a blog is it? I have pictures to show you but I don't have them with me so I'll tell you about my outing with my NY style correspondent Emma J. I met up with her at Balenciaga in Chelsea then we went to go interview the owner of one of NYC leading (true) vintage shops called Vintedge. Everyone from Posh to the Olsen twins shop there. It's a hidden little spot for those in the know... you, my lovelies, get the first ever interview with the owner himself. More on that in a bit when I have the photos ready. There's a style section teaser going up tomorrow... worked my ass off on it and it looks like candy. Can't wait for you gorgeous people to have at it. Good and bad. ;)
Later!

Michel Gondry @ Strand Books NYC

This footage was shot almost a year ago now and was cut much longer when I was going to included it in my line up of videos last fall but for some reason or another never posted it. I wanted to now be cause I still very much enjoyed what Michel Gondry said about digital effects in film. This was definitely the focus point of his talk as he showed a lot of clips of music videos he'd done in the past and explained a bit about how the effects were done in camera.

The other interesting point he made, that is now on the cutting room floor, was when he spoke about his dislike for website like youtube.com. He mentioned it took away from the shared experience of making something and then inviting your friends over to watch it together. He felt it was cold and impersonal when uploaded and that view counts and ratings were distracting from the point of making that video to begin with. He said it was a hindering experience to create things solely for aggregated numbers and that we should all just be making things to enjoy them, not to promote them. Interesting.
