Jay-Z | the Holy Grail video

Chopped and screwed. Flipped and bounced. Rearranged and deranged. Jay is not to be out done. The artistry of the video plays out like a ruthless ballet depicting all the spoils of fame and fortune turning into rotted fruit.

Recall The Black Album's The Allure because that was the first episode of this cautionary tale. Kingdom Come's Hollywood would have to be the second installment and Holy Grail is surely the vicious part 3. These songs are Mr. Carter's stories of addiction, masterfully told, from the inside out. And though none of us will ever find the elusive 'Holy Grail', including Jay, we continue to stop at nothing in our poisonous search of it.

AVideoMagazine Shop Promo | spring/summer 2013

Admittedly we got a tiny bit too turnt up this night and didn't really plan to shoot a promo for the AVM shop but we crashed a party repping AVM hard and it just all fell into place.

A huge thank you goes out to Aliem Licious for capturing the hilarity of this party. I made sure to include her super talented face in the edit so you GO CHECK HER OUT! Links below!

in situ | Jon Villoch 4 | extra links!

Our 4th installment of art series, In Situ, once again follows artist Jon (Depoh) Villoch. We've peered in his studio, been invited to his gallery show openings in NYC and seen his on sight murals being created. Above is a remix of the time lapse footage Villoch shot himself of a mural he was completing.

in situ | Jon Villoch 3 | extra links!

Our third installment of In Situ gets a glimpse of Jon Villoch working on works on paper in his studio. The video fails to capture the electric brilliance of the etching ink being brushed then pallet knifed onto the paper. We were able to see recently created works as well as watching Villoch work on some pieces live.

Blain Bigelow | Parkour | AVM Sponsored

Earlier this year AVideoMagazine apparel-sponsored Blain Bigelow. Who is Blain Bigelow exactly? Well, if you haven't watched the video above then I guess we're not friends anymore, I mean, I'll just tell you right now. Blain is a supremely talented traceur. Ok... I get it. You still have questions. What's a traceur? Will you just give me a second to tell you?! Stop rushing me! Just kidding. Someone who trains in the French born discipline of parkour is, in turn, a traceur. There! Happy?! In all seriousness, Mr. Bigelow is WFPF affiliated, a PKOUT team member and now sponsored by us, AVideoMagazine. Above is Blain doing what he so precisely does best wearing some of our gear from the AVM Shop.

The video was produced, directed and edited exclusively for us by filmmaker, Aliem Licious. She is not only a traceur herself but also shoots tons of parkour footage with an amazing cinematic eye.

Please be sure to connect with Aliem Licious online!

Mutwale | An animated kickstarter project!

We never said our friends were ONLY gorgeous and glamorous... Some of our friends are that AND conscious of social issues as well as insanely talented. Jeff Martell is an animator and filmmaker who launched a kickstarter to fund his deeply moving project. He's so close to the finish line it would be a shame not to try and help him get all the way there. Watch the video above to get the full story and click the link below to visit the kickstarter page. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jeffmartell/mutwale-an-epic-animated-short-film

Mutwale (moo-TWALL-ay) is an animated short film about an elephant who is pulled into the chaos of the Rwandan genocide in 1994. Based on true events, this story follows a young elephant who is banished from his herd in Rwanda’s Akagera National Park. A local fisherman earns his trust with sugarcane, but their burgeoning friendship is threatened when the genocide intrudes into the protected territory.

Justin's Suit & Tie | Playing at the office | 3.7.13

Dear LORD, JT! Did you really have to MURDER everybody?! They say this is Justin's comeback album as if the kid ever fell off. The song is gorgeous and the video is spectacular. Classy on top of classy. Smooth on top of smooth. Sexy as all ever. Jay makes his ice cold yet splashy entrance at 3 minutes flat for those of you who NEED not to miss that part. (Me)

On a personal note and as a test of a songs real ability to live up to the class it conveys... I heard this track in a chandelier laden ballroom at Lombardi's by the Bay, at a wedding, champagne in hand, all my boys in suits, all are dates looking like elegantly wrapped pieces of candy and this song felt so right. What an amazing way to kick off the early summer music stampede to follow. I eagerly await Mirrors, JT's new album, when it drops later this month. I expect him to keep us pretty well covered with hits throughout the summer months. Stand and applaud, the kid KILLED it.

Also... anyone else feel like the video was inspired by the show Magic City? Because we did. ;)

Jung Ah Kim's Lego Lamps

Jung Ah Kim's decision to mix classic lamp shapes with the unforgettable look of Lego building blocks takes a very pop art turn. I imagine this would be the lamps adorning all the Lego houses I built as a kid, only to crush in Godzilla like fashion. It's definitely a statement piece for any home. Lamps and details on dimensions and construction available @ seankenney.com

adidas Originals | Blue Collection | F/W 2012

The Blue Collection never ceases to amze me. (Not a typo.) They have that boutique brand feel while still being 3 stripes all over. A mega corp showing they can still get down. It's all so clean and simple as if meticulously labored over by a small team of designers. It's adidas' answer to all the small brands out there trying to make it. ...and did you check out the chick at 0:38?!?! Oooooof! ;)

Introducing "Quincey" | extra links!

Quincey Okafor is the newest contributor/producer to join the team here at AVideoMagazine. In his short time with us he's already lined up a couple of promo videos, interviews and helped with the production of our forthcoming August cover. We're working on big things with the mag but we're also just enjoying summer and generally making waves in our immediate surroundings. He'll also be heading up one of our biggest videos to date, promoting our new line of t-shirts, which will be out later this summer. Follow him on twitter: @QuinceyOkafor and check him out on facebook: Quincey Okafor

in situ | Jon Villoch 2 | extra links!

Jon "Depoe" Villoch and I go way back. I've seen him go from a graffiti artist bombing up the streets of Miami to an exhibiting NYC artist with paintings in many prestigious private collections. It's all well deserved. "In Situ" was created for Jon as a way for us to be the fly on the wall while he creates new work. We follow him on location when he's doing a commissioned mural to sitting in his studio while he works on new paintings, etchings and prints. This is the second video in the series, not counting our interview with him a couple of years back, and there's a few more in the works that will be coming out soon. The videos are quiet and mostly about watching Jon work and taking in his process. You can find all our of coverage of Jon Villoch's work by visiting this link: AVideoMagazine.blogspot.com/search/label/villoch
